It was a learning experience being able to
use different technological tools like Twitter, Facebook, ToonDoo, Animoto,
Piktochart, Screencast-o-matic, Instagram, Podcasting, and Pixton. At the
beginning of the class I was a little skeptic about having to do the
assignments because even though I had heard of most of the technology tools used
in this course, I really hadn’t personally used them. Now that I am finishing
the course, I really ended up enjoying it and learned how to actually used
tools like Animoto, Screencast-o-matic, Instagram, podcast, ToonDoo, Pixton,
and Piktochart. Two of my favorite tools
were Animoto and Screencast-o-matic. I
can use screencasts to explain new programs to my students and I know students
will love to use Animoto to present and discuss their assignments. I think
students will take more pride of their accomplishments if they can see and hear
their animoto videos and use it as learning. I see myself using these two tools
in my classroom this year. The one that I had some trouble with was recording
myself and posting it in YouTube. I had to do some googling to post the video
in you tube. I am not used to recording myself so it was a little off my
comfort zone but I guess with repetition and practice I will get used to it. I think all technology tools learned will be
beneficial to students. I will probably
just start by implementing one or two the most by semester or year to make sure
it is used with consistency to make sure students and teachers use it and feel
comfortable implementing it for learning.
Facebook and Twitter are social Medias that
could be implemented to promote what is happening at the library or
classrooms. I have seen more of Facebook
being implemented in elementary schools than Twitter. My husband had the
opportunity to attend a training where Podcasting was being promoted to be implemented
in the classroom. Screencasting will be
a good way to explain the procedures used in podcasting. ToonDoo, Pixton and Animoto are excellent
tools to provide our students with an opportunity to show their creativity and
expertise in an engaging learning way.
